This took me a bit longer, than I thought it would. Here are already some fotos of my experiment. It was very hard to make good fotos, but the films are even better to see what I was busy with. The film will take longer, because a lot of them are shaky and I still need some music, plus there is lots to do.
This experiment was inspired by the artist Anthony McCall. One of his exhibitions was in Berlin, which is where I first saw his work.
Hope it becomes a bit clearer of what I am busy with.

The second day in London, I actually spend almost all day long at the Tate Modern Gallery. This gallery is one of the most wonderfull galleries I know. As there was a 15 week long performance/ interactive week, it was very inspireing.
One of the most inspiring for myself was the work from Juan Downey. He used the Allegory from Plato about the cave.

Quote " The Allegory presents, in brief form, most of Plato's major philosophical assumptions: his belief that the world revealed by our senses is not the real world but only a poor copy of it, and that the real world can only be apprehended intellectually; his idea that knowledge cannot be transferred from teacher to student, but rather that education consists in directing student's minds toward what is real and important and allowing them to apprehend it for themselves; his faith that the universe ultimately is good; his conviction that enlightened individuals have an obligation to the rest of society, and that a good society must be one in which the truly wise (the Philosopher-King) are the rulers."
see link: http://www.historyguide.org/intellect/allegory.html

It was a big dark room with nine people sitting with their backs to the entrance and meditating. Infront of each was a camera, which filmed each face. These films could be seen at the back of each person, on the boxes on which they were sitting. The meditators could see the shadows of the visitors.
This gave the effect of the Plato Allegory. It was so fascinating and since I had just read about Plato I knew what Juan Downey had in mind when he made the piece.
All in all london was a super creative and inspiring short trip. Good that I went!!! :)

Tomorrow I will be posting about my experiment with beamers and a fog machine. Inspired by the work of Anthony Mc Call.

Since I had only two whole days in London I went around a lot. Mostly I took a lot of time in the museums and also their museem shops. The first museum was the design museum, which had two different exhibitions. One about the product of sport; deisgn to win and the other about crystals from swarovski. Especially the second exhibition, was very interesting for me, since I work with light and shadows myself. It gave me a lot of imput in a creative and inspiring way. Here some photos.

London has been sooooo inspiring. Not only for my final project, but also for my thesis. My final project will be about light and shadows. I am so fascinated by what light does in life and how we are so dependent from it. How light is almost always one of the main factors for everything on how you do what you do.
At the moment I am not yet focusing on one special part, but on all there is and all that fascinates me. Trying to find the borders and why exactly I love light and am so triggered to go experiment more with it.
In London there were several exhibitions of artists who used light in their istalltions and artworks. Especially in the Tate Modern Gallery, were there has been a 15 week long performance/interactive/creative time with loads of different things going on everyday, I had to go to London and see what was happening there.
I will go on and try to put on the blog, all the steps I took and where I went in London and after that in Leipzig/Berlin. Trying to explain in words, how all the exhibitions and the time itself helped me in which way is not very easy, but I will give it a try. :)
Hoepfully this goes well and after that I know how to let everyone know what I am doing to get to my final project. :)
cheers Fritzi

I have been to London and Berlin in my vacation. This was to get more inspiration for my endproject. In the next few days, I will put some photos and text up on the website to show what I did.
